About 

Praised for her strength as a dramatic interpreter and her large, colorful sound, Soprano Lauren Ingebrigtsen is earning a reputation as a powerhouse singing actor. She was hailed as "strong and versatile" by the Chicago Reader for her performance as Edka in Chicago Fringe Opera’s Two Remain, and by the Decaturian as “phenomenal” and a “true star” for her turn as Madame Flora in Millikin Opera Theatre’s The Medium. Her repertoire spans centuries from the Baroque to the 21st century and she remains devoted to telling powerful stories onstage. In addition to performing she is a dedicated teacher and director. She also performed with Painted Sky Opera as a member of their Educational Outreach Ensemble. She served as Director of Education and Dramaturg for Oklahoma City University’s student-run opera company, OPERAtions. She is also a private voice and piano teacher and prides herself on having a diverse studio of highly informed young artists who use music to get in touch with their own individual stories and identities. She is currently a teaching artist with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and finds herself inspired and energized by her works bringing new voices to the world of opera.

 

She is also a strong mover and has completed courses in dance and combat, including a masterclass with Black Panther’s Janeshia Adams-Ginyard, and a course in Alexander Technique for singers with Alexandra Kassouf. She holds a certificate from the Society of American Fight Directors in Hand-to-Hand combat, and currently studies ballet at The Joffrey Ballet.
